Me, Myself and I

All well and good to be the best you can be however, at what point do we take this philosophy too far? We are a communal societal species that "NEED" each other .. and it is not ok to pull ourselves away from our loved ones, family, friends, and community. In fact, I will argue the best way to feel good about ourselves is to help others. We all need more communication, understanding, empathy, and compassion and while yes we don't want to be a "doormat" or live just to please others? We do need to interact and help one another, learn from each other, understand and show compassion for each other. In this time, we are being bombarded by bullying, arrogance, intolerance and it's not a recipe for success and I am not sure these books are helping .. and can possibly be contributing to more intolerance , loneliness and thoughtlessness ... It is quite possible to love oneself and others, to say no to the hurtful and yes to the helpful .. once again, these "experts" take advantage and turn people into "victims" instead of responsible, accountable people with agency .. and that's what we should strive for
